Is nullification good? Well, yes, in principle. But as Gary explains, and before we get too excited, the nullification bill working its way through the Tennessee legislature is not the right tool and indeed could get us into murkier waters. What we need, instead, are a few good men and women with the intellectual force to understand our constitutional order, and the moral force to uphold it. The instrument of nullification already exists. We just need to use it.
